Alice Milliat (1884-1957), a key figure in sports feminism, is today celebrated for her fight for the inclusion of women in high-level sport. A pioneer in this field, she was at the origin of the Women's Olympic Games in 1922, organized to compensate for the absence of women in the Olympic Games. Today, her legacy is not only recognized in sports institutions, but is also embodied in infrastructures bearing her name and in statues that pay tribute to her. This cultural trail aims to retrace the history of Alice Milliat and her fight for gender equality through key places of her commitment, while raising public awareness of the importance of her legacy.
The proposed cultural trail, entitled "A Race for Equality", connects the important places in the life and work of Alice Milliat. It extends from Paris to Nantes, passing through historic stadiums and sports facilities, while celebrating her fight through modern interactions, such as feminist trails and sporting events.
