THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL

  • Its role

The members of the Scientific Council make recommendations based on documentation and their knowledge and experience. This requirement is found both in the writing phase of the application file and in the deployment, development and evaluation of the project once it is launched. The Council then undertook two main tasks:

    • Manage the geographical and thematic development of the project
    • Define the associated research programmes, both in their scientific dimensions and in their educational perspectives

The creation of a scientific council responds to the need for a cultural itinerary not to be based solely on economic interests but also on deep and lasting interactions with the world of research.

  • Its president

The presidency of the Scientific Council was entrusted to Professor Thierry Terret, former president of the International Society for the History of Sport and Physical Education, former President and Ministerial Delegate to the Olympic and Paralympic Games and author of some 70 books on the history of sport.

  • The scientific committee

The scientific committee of the European Cultural Route of Sport has 11 people - six women and five men - from 10 European countries, experts in different and complementary fields, all more or less directly related to sport.
